Tributes to our war heroes win awards
The awards are made by the Royal British Legion Scotland, in association with the Beautiful Scotland competition, to recognise the continued care of memorials.
The Borders had war memorials recognised in every category, winning outright in the ‘satellite memorial without a garden’ category with the memorial at Kelso High School.
In the ‘champion of champions’ category, Jedburgh Abbey and Wilton Lodge Park in Hawick were highly commended and Kelso was commended.

Staff from parks, cleansing, SB Local and property maintenance all play their part in ensuring that these memorials remain fitting tributes to the brave men
and women they represent. Kelso High School pupils also help with the upkeepof the memorial in their grounds.
