Have your say on the strategy for dementia
By 2020, there will be many more people over the age of 85.
Younger people and those with a learning disability can develop dementia but it is more usual in older people, particularly those who are over 85. Therefore, there will be an increasing demand on care and support services in the future due to the age of the population.
It also means there will be more family carers who will need help to continue looking after their partners and relatives.
The Council and NHS Borders, in partnership with Alzheimer Scotland and Borders Voluntary Community Care Forum, have just published the Borders dementia strategy for consultation. Looking ahead to the future care and support needs of people with dementia, it sets out the key objectives of the Council and NHS Borders for the next 10 years.
You can have your say through the feedback form in the strategy, which is being distributed widely and will be available in libraries, Council contact centres and health centres.
